India’s New Travel Hack: The Great Indian Travel Festival

With the holiday season almost upon us, Santa has arrived early for Indians in the form of The Great Indian Travel Festival with various travel portals joining hands to offer vacationers one more reason to plan a holiday. The festival was officially inaugurated on 18 April, 2015 and will be up for a good nine days, till 26 April, 2015. An initiative by IPG Mediabrands in association with Google, GITF is presenting more than 50 holiday destinations in India and abroad, with the most exciting deals and discounts on air fares, bus tickets, hotel and cruise packages. The GITF has not only partnered with a number of travel sites like MakeMyTrip, Ezeego1, Goibibo etc. but also with a gadget company Evio, a travel insurance company IFFCO Tokio and a foreign exchange portal, Doorstep Forex.

Here is what some of these GITF participants are offering the holiday makers this summer.

MakeMyTrip
One of India’s first and biggest travel site, MakeMyTrip is giving customers cashback of up to Rs 1,250 on domestic hotel bookings and up to Rs 2,000 on international hotel bookings. It is also offering up to 10% or maximum Rs 750 cashback on domestic flights booked via its mobile phone app on minimum bill amount of Rs 5,000, while up to Rs 3,300 cashback on international flights on minimum bill of Rs 30,000. MakeMyTrip is also giving up to Rs 2000 cashback on domestic holidays and Rs 1000 to Rs 4000 cashback on international holiday packages.

Goibibo
This travel portal is offering by far the best travel discounts as compared to other websites in GITF. On Goibibo, you can get a list of standardized domestic budget rooms with all the basic facilities starting at just Rs 999. Here, travelers will also get flat 65% and flat 50% discounts on a select 200 hotels from OYO. Goibibo is also offering its customers flat Rs 2000 cashback on international and domestic flight bookings. However, the best of Goibibo offers is the 105% cashback offer on domestic and international hotel bookings of Rs 5,001 or more, 80% on bill of Rs 3,001 to 5,000 and 55% on bill of Rs 0 to Rs 3,000. However, the maximum cashback you can get on any of these offers is limited to Rs 10,000 in form of goCash valid for 90 days. Not a bad deal at all if you are a travel addict!

Ezeego1
The second best travel discounts come from this online travel agent with its offer of up to Rs 14,000 off on holidays in India and up to Rs 15,000 off on international holidays. Ezeego1 is also giving customers flat 12% off on international hotel bookings, up to Rs 8000 discount on hotel packages in India and Rs 1500 off on flights. This travel site is also hosting flash sales daily with discounts as high as Rs 24,000 per couple on some international holiday destinations. With GITF, Ezeego1 has also launched a new section called The Ultimate Travelling Camp with the Chamba Camp Thiksey, a 6 nights 7 days camp in Ladakh.

Yatra
Yatra is offering up to Rs 1000 e-cashback on domestic flights, 15% off on international flights, up to 50% cashback on domestic hotel bookings, up to 25% cashback on bus tickets, up to Rs 3000 off on domestic holidays and up to 30,000 off on international holidays.

Other sites
Whereas various other sites like Via.com, Thomas Cook and EaseMyTrip have come up with nominal offers. Via is giving flat 200 off on one-way domestic flights and Rs 400 off on return tickets. Also, it is giving flat 45% off on domestic hotel booking for two or more nights, with maximum cashback allowed Rs 1000. Travelers can get flat Rs 7,500 and flat 15,000 off per transaction on nine select holiday packages in India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka. At Easemytrip, customers will get flat Rs 500 off on domestic flights, Rs 1000 off on international flights, flat 20% off on hotel bookings and flat Rs 1,500 off on various holiday packages.

Cruise Packages
Not to forget, one of the most luxurious and aspirational holidays for some, Celebrity X Cruises and Royal Caribbean have come together to offer some amazing deals on various indulgent international cruises. Royal Caribbean has come with a unique BOGO50 offer, giving customers 50% off on companion’s booking on every single booking. These cruise packages includePhilippines, Hongkong, UK, Thailand, France, Singapore, Italy USA, Spain, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Mexico tours.

While Celebrity X Cruises is offering free drinks, tips or 300 dollars to spend on New Zealand, Turkey Greece, Brazil, Holland, Australia and Canada cruise packages.
